Filed under Editorial When I saw this, I nearly freaked out. So, so good. I called my brother over, Hey you gotta check this out! It's so... juicy. Then I noticed she used two types of vases making this a modern and unique look. I personally like the clear best, but they are both great. Marci is the head honcho over at Entwined Designs in Southern California. Like me, she worked for a few prominent florists before the bug got her to branch off on her own. Here you'll find Part I of III. Yes, this is a trifecta flower movement from Marci- I just couldn't help it. I like to see a diverse body of work, which she has. Photos by Cean One
Marci tells me, "The inspiration for this shoot came from the desire to use a color that at the time wasn't being utilized because of the DIY movement. During a stay at a hotel we came across a beautiful Purple Vessel that had long flowing lines within the structure." Florals used: Dark Purple Hydrangea, Fuschia Mokara orchids and Fuschia Phalaenopsis orchids. Even though the DIY movement was and is going strong, as it should be, as floral designers I think we yearn for something different or out-of-the-box, you know, challenging. Everything has been pastels, haphazardly thrown together in mason jars. I fell in love with this because it's artistic and has a feeling to it. It's regal, textured, and really quite impressive!

It's beautiful, of course! She organized it well! It looks like 2 bunches of Phalaenopsis, minimum (approximately $150 cost) plus one or two bunches of healthy moccarra (about $20 to $36), and purple hydrangea, often $3.50 to $5/stem; possibly 10 stems? So another $35 to $50 for the flowers, alone. The mercury ball is likely to have been at least $85, but probably much, much more. Plus those pretty translucent magenta vessels; the clear cylindricals can be picked up for anywhere from $10 to $30, each, and the bling on them for about $10; the purple stands, possibly another $18 to $35 each, minimum. Total estimated cost of the flowers and vases, alone, likely somewhere between $368 and $745 and that's without including those gorgeous, but also very pricey mercury glass bottles. The cost of production is so terribly important and so often overlooked in our excitement to create an outstanding presentation, making poor men out of the best of us. I'd be very interested in knowing how she priced it since these particular florals used are tremendously expensive. Can you share?
